The Batesville Bulldogs boys soccer team lost a close 1-0 decision at East Central. The team delivered an impressive performance in a hard-fought conference match against the East Central Trojans, working possession and combination play while their defense held firm against repeated threats, according to coach Kyle Hunteman. Batesville's goalkeeper Owen Beckner was exceptional all night, logging up to 12 impressive saves. The defense forced East Central mostly to long-range shots. After a scoreless first half, the high intensity continued through the second, pushing the match into two seven-minute overtime periods. With only 1 minute and 10 seconds remaining, after the Bulldogs lost possession in the midfield, the Trojans lofted a ball into the box, and despite a mid-air collision and Beckner getting a piece of the shot, East Central managed a quick one-time finish into the net.
