BHS cross country competes at East Central

The Batesville High School cross country teams competed at the East Central Invitational. The girls were victorious with a team score of 31 points, which was 11 better than the Trojans. Even though they only had 2 personal bests, they all ran solid with all varsity 7 girls in the top 20 of the race and 8 girls placing in the top 10 of the JV race. This effort also gave the Bulldogs the win for the morning scoring a solid 31 points, beating East Central by 11 points as they finished with 42 points. Harrison took 3rd place at 59 and Lawrenceburg was 4th with 106 points. The Bulldogs were again led by the duo of Ava Wad and Jayla Bedel, separated by just .3 of a second from each other taking 2nd and 3rd almost simultaneously. Ava was 20:00.7 and Jayla 20:01. Batesville also took the next spot with Samantha Adams placing 4th. Finishing out the varsity 7 and running solid races were: Fancesca Myers (10th), Caitlin Raver (12th), Paige Allgeier (14th) and Lexi Harris (16th). For the JV top 10 spots, it was Batesville placing 1-7 with a nice little pack separated by only 15 seconds. Leading for the Bulldogs was Maycee Holtkamp followed closely by Aubrey Weberding, Reillee Adams, Jade Martin, Charlotte Trossman (1-5). Audrey Deickmann and Gabi Alonzo took 6th and 7th place with Aubree Spurlock snagging the last spot in 10th. The boys had a total of 9 personal best performances, 4 runners in the top 20 of the meet and 3 JV runners recognized in the top 10. The Bulldogs finished in a strong 3rd place with 60 points, beating Connersville who had 75. Harrison were the champions with 35 points and East Central just beat out the Bulldogs with 54 points. Leading the way for the Dogs placing 4th and 5th respectively was senior Ethan Rahschulte (17:59) and sophomore Levi Essick (18:09). Ryan Benz was the 3rd Bulldog to cross the line in 16th place and Brody was 19th placing in the top 20th of the meet and getting awards. Finishing out the varsity 7 were Varshath Rajesh (26th), Lucas Gadberry (27th) and Tripp Hertel (31st). Although team scores were not kept for the JV race, they did recognize the top 10. Batesville took places 6-8 with Gage Sullivan, Ayden Meyer and Nick Tirado in those spots.
