The Batesville High School cross country teams traveled to South Ripley for the Ripley County meet. It was a beautiful evening for running and Batesville came home with 13 individuals named to the All County team, an individual Ripley County Champion, 2 team championships and 3 personal best performances. Although all members of the team were able to run, only the first 7 from each team could be named to the All County Roster. To make All-County, individuals needed to place in the top 10 of the race and be one of the first 7 from your school. The boys had 6 individuals accomplish this, placing 3rd - 5th and 8th - 10th. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Ethan Rahschulte at a time of 18:25, followed by teammates Levi Essick and Cash Myers. The next group of Bulldogs crossing the line one right after another were Ryan Benz, Brody Gibson and Jaden Basler. Finishing out the top 7 for the dogs, but just missing the All-County team, coming in 12th was Varshath Rajesh. This performance gave Batesville the victory with 29 points. Milan came in 2nd at 41 and South Ripley 3rd with 61. Gabe Riehle from Milan was the boys individual champion crossing the finish line a minute ahead of the field at 16:34. For the girls race, it was a sea of royal blue and white crossing the finish line, one right after another as Batesville took the first 8 spots and 10th - 13th, giving them the ultimate low score of 15 and the Ripley County Championship. Freshman Ava Wade was crowned the individual champion with a time of 21:05, out-kicking her teammate Jayla Bedel (21:08) down the final stretch. Following those two in order were: Samantha Adams, Francesca Myers, Caitlin Raver, Maycee Holtkamp and Paige Allgeier-all being named to the All-County team. And, although they placed in the top 10 of the race, but were not one of the top 7 from Batesville so could not be named to the team were: Lexi Harris (8th) and Jade Martin (10th). Jade was followed by teammates Reillee Adams, Charlotte Trossman and Aubrey Weberding, taking 11th-13th. The Bulldogs did have three individuals run personal bests for the night and they were: Varshath Rajesh, Gage Sullivan and Gabi Alonzo.
