The Batesville High School varsity baseball team defeated Connersville 7-6 on Thursday in 9 innings. The game was tied 6-6 in the top of the 9th inning when Will Jaisle doubled to score one run. Batesville jumped into the lead in the top of the second when Gavin Brannon induced Josh Borgman to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and an error scored three runs. The Bulldogs added one run in the third after Rylan Yeager hit a sacrifice fly. Connersville captured the lead (6-5) in the bottom of the 6th inning. Carson Meyer grounded out, which helped the Bulldogs tie the game 6-6 in the top of the 7th inning. Carson Schneider started on the mound for the Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Brannon led things off on the mound for Connersville. The pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking seven. Yeager threw two innings of shutout ball for Batesville in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking three. Connersville had bases loaded with one out when Yeager struck out the last two hitters of the 9th inning to earn the win. Yeager, Jaisle, and Meyer each drove in one run for Batesville. Dane Dudley went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits. Meyer led Batesville with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate amassing 11 walks for the game. Batesville turned one double play in the game.
