The Batesville High School varsity baseball team defeated the South Dearborn Knights 2-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by senior Jack Grunkemeyer. Grunkemeyer started the game for the Bulldogs, held the Knights hitless and recorded all 21 outs. The bottom of the lineup was strong for Batesville offensively. Carter Bohman, Carson Schneider, and Alex Krekeler combined for four of the team's seven hits in their victory. They scored one run and drove in none. Batesville got on the board in the fifth inning after Brayden Maple doubled, scoring one run. Grunkemeyer earned the win for the Bulldogs. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Batesville's Schneider made the most out of their chances at the plate. The number nine hitter led the team with two hits in three at bats. Maple and Carter Bohman each drove in one run for the Bulldogs. Batesville were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Krekeler made the most plays with 11.
