Batesville High School

The Batesville High School boys basketball team claimed the Class 3A, Sectional 29 title with a 44-36 victory over Lawrenceburg at Greensburg High School. It is the first sectional title for the Bulldogs since 2019. The Bulldogs jumped out an early 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 19-17 advantage at halftime. The lead grew slightly to 26-22 by the end of the third quarter. The Bulldogs shot 54-percent from the field and an impressive 10-of-11 for the game from the free throw line to help secure the victory. Sam Johnson led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points, while fellow senior Gus Prickel finished with 12. Prickel also had a team-high of four assists. Trenten Luers and Jack Grunkemeyer shared team honors with five rebounds apiece. Bulldogs over Connersville in semifinals The Bulldogs earned a berth in the championship game with a 48-31 win over the Connersville Spartans. Three players scored in double figures for Batesville. Prickel led the way with 12 points followed by Cade Kaiser (11) and Grunkemeyer (10). Kaiser had a team high in rebounds (6), steals (3) and blocked shots (2).
