The Batesville Bulldogs freshman football team put together a strong all-around performance Thursday night, defeating Lawrenceburg 34-18 behind a powerful rushing attack and an opportunistic defense. Jarod Zins led the way offensively for Batesville, finding the end zone three times on touchdown runs. Zins repeatedly provided the Bulldogs with big plays on the ground and was a key part of Batesville's offensive success throughout the game. Tucker Suddath also contributed a touchdown run, giving the Bulldogs another threat in the rushing attack. Suddath then made his presence felt through the air, throwing successful two-point conversion passes to Jonah Heil and Jasper Johnson. The Bulldogs' defense was equally impressive, creating several momentum-changing plays throughout the night. Jonah Heil delivered one of the biggest defensive plays of the game with a pick-six, intercepting a Lawrenceburg pass and returning it all the way for a touchdown. Suddath also came up with an interception, giving Batesville another takeaway and helping the Bulldogs control the game defensively. Zins added another big defensive play when he made a strip tackle and recovered the resulting fumble, giving the Bulldogs an additional possession and showcasing his impact on both sides of the football. Linebackers, Brock Enneking and Drake Hohman were constant problems for the Lawrenceburg offense, with both players recording several tackles for loss. Their ability to penetrate the backfield helped keep Lawrenceburg from establishing a consistent offensive rhythm.
