Batesville High School

The Batesville Bulldogs traveled to Connersville for their final conference match of the season and suffered a tough loss in overtime. Batesville controlled possession throughout much of the first half, creating several opportunities while the Bulldog defense limited the Spartans’ attack, according to coach Kyle Hunteman. Connersville opened the scoring early in the second half with a header off a free kick, but Batesville responded less than two minutes later when Ryan McGuire followed his deflected shot and finished the rebound to tie the match 1-1. Neither team found another goal through regulation or overtime, sending the match to penalty kicks. After the first five shooters could not decide the result, the shootout continued into additional rounds, where Connersville ultimately secured the victory.
