Bulldogs compete at Columbus North Invitational

The Batesville Bulldogs were up bright and early this morning to head to CERAland Park in Columbus to compete in the 16 team Columbus North Invitational. The varsity girls stepped up to the line first with a very solid performance giving them a 5th place team finish. Jayla Bedel led the way placing 20th (19:48) with Francesca Myers close behind running a personal best performance of 20:10 and placing her 27th. Sydney Gilland, also running a personal best, crossed the line next for Batesville in 34th place (20:39) with Caitlin Raver just 3 seconds behind her, placing 36th (20:42). Finishing out the top 5 scoring Bulldogs was Paige Allgeier in 55th place (21:36). Top 5 teams in the girls race were: Columbus North-64 Fishers-67 Avon-73 Franklin Central-76 Batesville-159 Next up was the varsity boys with 4 running career personal bests. Juniors Levi Essick, placing 68th overall (17:49) and Ryan Benz, running a personal best (17:59) and finishing 74th, led the way for the Bulldogs. Cael Luhman came in next for Batesville at 87th place (18:27), followed closely by Duncan Fish in 91st and running a personal best (18:38). Brody Gibson finished out the top 5 in 104th place. Also running personal bests for the Bulldogs and placing 107th and 108th respectively were Timothy Quillin (19:50) and Rhett Gibson (19:51). The competition was tough and overall the Bulldogs placed 12th with 353 points. On the JV side, Addison McGuire and Zoe Martin led the Bulldogs, both with personal best performances of 24:59 and 25:15. For the JV boys, it was Tripp Hertel (21:50) and Ayden Meyer (22:00) leading the way.
