The Batesville High School varsity baseball team defeated Franklin County by a score of 9-0 on Thursday. William Huber and Ronan Post each pitched for Batesville to combine for the shutout. The Bulldogs got a big boost with six runs in the sixth inning. Post singled, scoring one run, Huber drew a walk, scoring one run, Rylan Yeager drew a walk, scoring one run, Jackson Elston drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and a steal of home scored one run. The Bulldogs were the first to get on the board in the second when Elston doubled, scoring one run. Huber earned the win for the Bulldogs. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Post tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Batesville in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out two and walking one. Post and Noah Weigel were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Bulldogs, while hitting back-to-back. Elston and Post each drove in two runs. Yeager paced Batesville with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Yeager stole two bases. Defensively, the Bulldogs turned two double plays in the game.
