Bulldogs 5-4 winners over Walton Verona

Batesville's William Huber drove in five runs on three hits to lead Batesville Bulldogs past Walton-Verona Bearcats 5-4 on Saturday. Huber doubled in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one. A fielder's choice by Huber put the Bulldogs on the board in the bottom of the first. Walton-Verona jumped into the lead in the top of the second when Will Hurles doubled, scoring two runs, and Trever Bauwens singled, scoring one run. A double by Huber gave Batesville the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third. Walton-Verona Varsity Bearcats scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to center field by Hurles. Huber also earned the win for the Bulldogs. The pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Dane Dudley collected the save. Ronan Post tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Batesville in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out one and walking none. The Bulldogs piled up 11 hits in the game. Brayden Maple, Dudley, and Noah Weigel each collected multiple hits for Batesville.
