Batesville girls win Ripley County title

The Batesville High School varsity basketball team posted a 43-33 win over South Ripley to win the Ripley County tournament. The Bulldogs held a 35-20 lead entering the final eight minutes of the game. South Ripley mounted a comeback by outscoring the Bulldogs 13-8, but it was not enough. Kaylin Kathmann and Maggie Jelinek led the team in scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Kathmann also had a team-high five assists, while Jelinek grabbed 11 rebounds. The Bulldogs earned a berth in the finals with a 53-39 win over Jac-Cen-Del. Kathmann led the Bulldogs with 13 points followed closely by Molly Gesell with 12.
