BHS boys varsity wins county title

The Batesville High School boys varsity basketball team defeated South Ripley 66-55 to win the Ripley County Tournament. The Bulldogs trailed 24-22 at the end of the first quarter and later 35-34 at halftime. Batesville picked up the defensive effort in the second half and held the Raiders to 20 points over the final 16 minutes. In the process, the Bulldogs took a 50-45 lead at the third quarter break and extended it to 11 points by the final horn. Trenten Luers and Kamryn Holcomb led the Bulldogs in scoring with 23 and 19 points, respectively. James Hughes and Luers each had six rebounds, while Brayden Maple had a team-high five assists. Defensively, Ethan Schneider led the team with five steals and five deflections.
