Batesville swimmers continued to show steady mid-season progress Tuesday in a four-team meet against East Central, Connersville, and Warren Central at East Central High School . The meet featured a sprint-heavy event lineup that differed from a traditional high school format, placing greater emphasis on short-distance races, quick recovery, and relay execution. In addition to standard relays, the meet also included a mixed medley relay, adding a change of pace and testing lineup flexibility under competitive conditions. Scoring was limited to two individuals or relays per team in each event, increasing the importance of strategic placement and clean execution. In that environment, Batesville’s performance reflected a program continuing to mature and adapt across a variety of race formats. On the men’s side, Matthew Lambert led the Bulldogs with a victory in the 50 Freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100 Freestyle. Batesville also earned key points in butterfly, breaststroke, and individual medley events, with Sam Richardson and Parker Oldham contributing multiple scoring swims. The Bulldogs’ A relay teams remained competitive throughout the meet, including a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. A scoring discrepancy in the Men’s 200 Free Relay is currently under review, as Batesville’s A relay finished fourth but was mistakenly listed as a no-show in the initial results. Once corrected, the updated scoring is expected to improve the team’s final placement. The Batesville women delivered a balanced effort across the sprint-focused lineup. Alexis Schiller recorded a second-place finish in the 50 Breaststroke and followed with another strong performance in the 100 Breaststroke. Samantha Adams scored in the 100 Individual Medley and contributed to the Bulldogs’ relay efforts, while Lexi Harris, Kate Fullenkamp, and Grace Copley added valuable points in sprint freestyle and backstroke events. From a season standpoint, the meet served as an important benchmark. Sprint-based formats reward precision, fast takeovers, and the ability to race repeatedly with minimal rest. With the EIAC Conference Championships scheduled for January 10, 2026, and hosted by East Central, this meet provided an ideal early tune-up in the same venue and a competitive environment similar to what the Bulldogs will face at the conference meet. Batesville will continue a busy stretch of competition with upcoming meets at Shelbyville on January 6, followed by the EIAC Conference Championships on January 10 at East Central. The Bulldogs will remain active through mid- and late January with additional meets on January 13, January 15, January 20, January 22, and January 27, using each opportunity to continue building toward sectional competition scheduled for the first and third weeks of February.
